“Maria Cecilia” — ES-2026-49007 is a chequer hen bred by Pedro Mompean and the 1st prize winner in Race 1 of Avirings OLR 2026 against 2,693 pigeons, racing for Team Pedro Mompean. Her own winning performance is backed by a pedigree combining Olympic Candela, Tom Van Gaver’s FINN Pair family and proven Luc & Hilde Sioen breeding.
A granddaughter of Olympic Candela. Her dam, “Daughter Candela” BE-2024-4173490, was bred by V. Gaver & A. Abajo from “Allround FINN” paired to “Olympic Candela” ES-2022-49151. Bred by Alberto Abajo, this outstanding maternal grandmother earned:
- Bronze Olympic medal, yearlings, Maastricht 2024.
- 2nd International World Best Pigeon FCI, yearlings, 2023.
- 1st Regional against 5,963 pigeons over 417 km.
- 1st Regional against 1,997 pigeons over 643 km.
Maternal grandsire “Allround FINN” BE-2020-4037342, bred by Tom Van Gaver, was 5th National Ace Pigeon KBDB, young birds, 2020. His recorded parents are “Cock FINN Pair” BE-2011-4310566 and “Hen FINN Pair” BE-2014-4282328, giving Maria Cecilia a direct, documented connection to this breeding pair.
The sire’s close family adds further one-loft racing strength. “Luc Jr.” BE-2024-4192238, bred by V. Gaver & A. Abajo, is a full brother to the winner of the AFRIKAPRO 2024 S-Final against 1,753 pigeons. He is a son of the Sioen-bred “Luc” BE-2022-3086017 and “Ace Charlie’s Finn” BE-2021-5006564, 5th Ace Pigeon Algarve Great Derby OLR 2022. This paternal grandmother descends through “Daughter Charlie” from “CHARLIE” and “Sister Finn 269”.
An OLR race-winning hen with Olympic and national ace-pigeon quality close behind her—an appealing combination of individual performance and documented family success.
